Since July 2010, I’ve been blogging at Sara’s Musings on WordPress which is my primary blog (click here to go to that blog). In April 2018, I created this second blog titled, “Sara’s Reflections,” and my original plan for this second blog was taking a look at our journey through life through the lens of a Christian worldview since we only get to go around once. However, as time has passed, it has morphed into other topics, too–a potpourri of sorts. The Apostle Paul offers some great advice as we travel through life that is found in Philippians 4:6-9: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” That is great advice in any and every situation we find ourselves in.
A.W. Tozer (1897-1963), pastor, author, magazine editor, and spiritual mentor who was often thought of as a “modern day prophet,” stated the following: “I rarely know where I am going in my life’s journey but… I look back and see that God has been leading my every step and I did not even know it” (quote source here). That statement goes along well with Proverbs 16:9 which states: “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.”
Perhaps two of the best known verses regarding guidance throughout our lives are found in Proverbs 3:5-6. We can’t go wrong following this advice:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
